The South African luxury hotel Emoya offers its guests a stay in an artificial slum called Shanty Town. For 65 Euros you are able to spend four nights experiencing the life in a slum. Wonderful! The hotel company built Shanty Town with the same materials, interior, and structure like “real” slums, but with a few “upgradings”: Shanty Town is like a gated community, and in a safe environment of a private game reserve. Furthermore, “this is the only Shanty Town in the world equipped with under-floor heating and wireless internet access!” Shanty Town was already opened in 2010 during the FIFA World Cup.
